This site is dedicated to the memory of Eileen Watts.

Thank you to everyone who helped me to reach such a great amount of money, in memory of Eileen. It was a brilliant evening and I'm so glad it's over!!!! Having my body waxed is something I can safely say, won't be happening again. This site will be open for any memories of Eileen you may wish to share. It will also be used for the next bit of fundraising..... EILEEN'S STORY On Friday 30th September 2011, Eileen was admitted to King George Hospital, Ilford, Essex, after suffering severe tummy pains. Whilst in triage, her bowel ruptured and what became a visit to the A & E, now became a race against time as to whether she would live or not. When the surgical team, lead by the wonderful, superb Mr Abeysekerra, 'got stuck in', Eileen was already at a critical stage. Speticemia and Perotinitis had already set in and it took over 35 gallons of fluid to help clean Eileen's wounds. After the operation, Eileen spent time on the I.C.U, H.D.U and ward and it was during this time that Eileen was told that the burst of her bowel was caused by a tumour that was cancerous and that the cancer had already gone to her liver. She immediaately adopted an attitude of hatred toward the Cancer and was adamant thst it wasn't going to stay, 'like an uninvited guest at a party', as she put. She returned home to Scotland on 24th October having lost the best part of 30lbs and slowly began her recovery. On the 28th October, Eileen received a phone call from the secretary of the equally wonderful Oncologist, Professor Munro and an appoitment was made for Eileen to see him on the 2nd of November, at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. During the meeting, Prof Munro said that her operational wounds would be healed over by the 15th November, which would be the first day of her Chemotherapy. We left the hospital, took the short walk to the nearby Maggie's Centre, went in, and so began a relationship with them that Eileen found so inspirational and to this day, our 5 boys and I still use. During Eileen's ilness, she made regular trips to Maggies, where help and support was in abundance. She would do therapy sessions, practical lessons in make up and confidence boosting, excerice, relaxation classes, massage and numerous other groups and classes. Eileen passed away on the 26th February 2013 and our 5 wonderful boys and I continue to use Maggie's in either group or 1 - 1 therapy and counselling sessions. It has proved to be source of great comfort and support for us as a family and we are by no means unique in this. There are many families in our situation which make use of Maggies, both within the local community and around the UK and it is for this reason that I'm hoping to raise money for Maggie's
